Thank You!
By Steve Mitgang, CEO, SmartDrive Systems
Sunday marked the beginning of the American Trucking Associations’ National Truck Driver Appreciation Week. Each year, this observance shines a spotlight on the drivers who deliver the goods and commodities that keep our country moving forward, and do so safely and efficiently.
This year, to coincide with the celebration, SmartDrive Systems decided to wade into our database—which includes more than 200 million analyzed driving events—to identify drivers who are among the safest on the road, as measured by improvements in their SmartDrive® Safety Score (see SmartDrive Recognizes Drivers With Most Improved Safety Scores).
The most improved drivers are:
- Larry Brown, Intermodal Container Logistics
- Brian Graczyk, Innovative Transportation Services
- Keith Hetu, Regency Transportation
- James Hunter, G&P Trucking
- Roy Moore, Central Oregon Truck Company
- Daniel Oechsner, Nussbaum Transportation
- Robert Sisneros, US Transport
But, these aren’t the only drivers we celebrate. We celebrate all 3.5 million drivers who take to the road every day. Without these dedicated, determined—and safe—men and women who log close to 724 billion (that’s billion with a B!) miles annually, commerce in the U.S. would come to a stop. Together they deliver roughly 10.55 billion (again, that’s billion with a B!) tons of total U.S. freight tonnage to every corner of our country.
Logging thousands of miles and thousands of hours, drivers carry out their responsibilities with pride and purpose. I applaud their daily commitment to getting the job done in a safe and responsible manner. I also applaud the hard-working safety managers and coaches who help drivers maintain a safe environment and provide the tools to help ensure safety.
As a safety company working with hundreds of fleets, we understand the challenges carriers face every day. And, we are committed to helping drivers stay safe, while helping to ensure the safety of the motoring public. On behalf of our team at SmartDrive, we thank you.
