SmartDrive Executive Presenting at AEMP Session on Improving Operator and Driver Behavior through Technology

Mike Baker to Share Insights on Benefits of Video-based Safety Program at Annual Asset Management Symposium

SmartDrive Executive Presenting at AEMP Session on Improving Operator and Driver Behavior through Technology

SAN DIEGO, September 29, 2015 — SmartDrive Systems, a leader in driving performance solutions that reduce collisions and improve fuel efficiency, today announced that it will participate in a panel discussion on using technology as a tool to improve driver and operator performance at the Association of Equipment Management Professionals (AEMP) Asset Management Symposium. Mike Baker, SmartDrive vice president of worldwide sales, joins other industry experts to discuss this timely and relevant topic for equipment managers. AEMP is partnering with the Association of Equipment Manufacturers to present the Asset Management Symposium and Customer Support Program, taking place Oct. 6-8 in Cleveland, OH, and bringing together equipment management end users, manufacturers and dealers to learn about best practices in equipment safety and other critical issues facing the industry.

Session title: Improving Operator and Driver Behavior through Technology
Date and time: Thursday, Oct. 8, 1:15 – 2:15 p.m.
Location: Westin Cleveland Downtown; Cleveland, Ohio
Speakers:

  • Mike Baker, vice president of worldwide sales, SmartDrive Systems
  • Todd Dawson, fatigue solutions project manager, Caterpillar
  • Tim Morgan, equipment foreman, Branch Highways

Operating safely and in compliance with regulations are critical to protecting company assets—whether employees, vehicles, heavy equipment, jobsite or reputation. In an industry where construction managers generally favor behavior-based initiatives, technology systems that improve safety through personalized performance coaching are having a positive impact. In this session, Baker, Dawson and Morgan will describe how today’s advanced technologies—including SmartDrive’s video-based safety program—help ensure fleet safety on the road and on the job site. The speakers will also explain how equipment managers can demonstrate return on investment, leverage existing technologies, evaluate risk, and ensure compliance with data retention requirements.

Baker has more than 20 years of experience in the technology, trucking and construction industries, with a track record of success in leadership positions at growth-focused telematics companies including Navman Wireless, Qualcomm Omnitracs and HighwayMaster. He has served on the Board of Trustees for AEMP Foundation, which provided scholastic funding for individuals pursuing careers in the construction industry. He earned a BS from the University of Tennessee at Martin, and has served in both the Tennessee Army National Guard and the United States Marine Corps Reserve.
