SmartDrive Charges DriveCam with Patent Infringement

Lawsuit filed against DriveCam, Inc.,

San Diego, CA, March 22, 2012 – SmartDrive Systems, a leader in fleet safety, fuel management and operational efficiency, today announced that it has filed a lawsuit against DriveCam, Inc., for infringing on a U.S. patent issued to SmartDrive for inventions used in commercial vehicle safety and fleet management systems developed and sold by SmartDrive. The suit was filed March 20, 2012 in United States District Court for the Southern District of California.

SmartDrive also continues to pursue its previously filed claims against DriveCam, asserting that it falsely claimed SmartDrive had infringed on DriveCam patents, that it violated the Sherman Act by engaging in “sham litigation” for economic advantage, that it engaged in unfair competitive business practices, and misappropriated SmartDrive trade secrets.
