Loomis Significantly Expands Relationship with SmartDrive
Quantifying linkage between collision prevention and reducing risky driving behaviors
proves Return on Investment
San
Diego, California - June 13, 2009 - SmartDrive Systems, a leader in
fleet safety solutions, today announced a 1000-vehicle expansion in their relationship
with Loomis Armored, based on the results of a recent extensive study connecting
a measured reduction in risky driving behaviors with a 53% reduction in collision
frequency. The study included over 1,000 vehicles, more than 2800 drivers and nearly
700,000 measured driving events over a 6-month period, comparing collision frequency
before and after implementation of the SmartDrive Measured Safety System.
Although Loomis already runs an exceptionally safe and responsible fleet, the SmartDrive
Measured Safety Program is so effective that significant per-driver improvements
were observed having a notable impact on several important categories that are leading
factors in collisions, to include:
- Distraction -54%
- Fatigue -56%
- Seatbelts non-usage -68%
- Speeding -53%
As validated independently by Aon, collisions for these same vehicles declined by
53% resulting in significant savings in auto liability, physical damage and workers'
compensation as well as keeping drivers safe and protecting the company's invaluable
safety reputation.
Based on these strong results, Loomis is implementing the SmartDrive program in
another 1000 vehicles in 2009.
"We implemented the SmartDrive Measured Safety Program because of our strong and
dedicated commitment to our people and the communities we operate in," said Danny
Pack, Sr. Vice President - Risk Management at Loomis. "Being able to quantifiably
reduce collisions, send drivers home safe each night, and reduce our fleet expenses
at the same time are extremely rewarding on many levels."
"The results seen at Loomis absolutely exemplify what SmartDrive is all about,"
added Greg Drew, CEO of SmartDrive Systems. "By creating safer drivers, the frequency,
severity, and financial impact of collisions can be minimized, saving lives and
resources."
