A Safety Tool, Not “Big Brother”
SmartDrive's palm-sized, exception based video event recorder is mounted on the windshield behind the rearview mirror and captures sights and sounds inside and outside the vehicle. Exceptional forces such as hard braking, swerving, collision, etc. cause the recorder to save critical seconds of audio and video footage immediately before and after the triggered event. An event is only recorded when something goes wrong. And, most professional drivers know that research has shown that the overwhelming majority of accidents are caused by non-professional drivers. SmartDrive enables these professional drivers to have a video and audio recording that will exonerate them from blame and save them and their company money from defending themselves from a plaintiff who might be motivated by the potential benefit of suing a large company.
Downloads To Web Platform
When the video event recorder is triggered, the SmartDrive device saves 15 seconds before the event and 15 seconds after the event. When the vehicle returns to its home base, SmartDrive’s systems then automatically and wirelessly download the saved "events" via WiFi access point to a secure website. Company risk managers, safety managers and fleet managers can then log onto the SmartDrive website to view any and all driving "events" from each of their vehicles.
Review, Analyze and Score
SmartDrive's Safety Experts review all triggered video events via a triple-review, binary system that sorts out false-positives and rates the severity of any driving event. This information is then delivered daily to the fleet or safety manager's desktop in an easy to understand, concise format which highlights the specific incidents, and their root causes.
SmartDrive University
SmartDrive's solution enables fleet managers to consistently and effectively coach drivers according to the safe driving policies of their companies. When these drivers return to the roadways, they have graduated from SmartDrive University, thus helping companies retain drivers by providing them safer jobs.
