Executive Team

Greg Drew, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President
Greg brings over 30-years experience with fast-growing technology companies to SmartDrive’s leadership. Most recently he was President and CEO of WebTrends. He served at the helm of WebTrends since 2003, driving the organization’s strategy to become a premier provider of digital marketing solutions, which has resulted in record performance nearly every quarter since. WebTrends served 8 major vertical markets and 10,000 customers worldwide including Microsoft, HSBC, Lloyds, State Farm, Nationwide and Northwest Mutual to name a few. Drew also served as founder, chairman and CEO of the technology retailer 800 Electronics, and has held leadership positions at leading high-tech companies such as Hewlett-Packard, Central Point Software, Clientele Software and NOW Software/Qualcomm. Greg is a founding board member of the Web Analytics Association, a board member of Shift Control Media and past chairman of the Software Association of Oregon. He is a graduate of Fairleigh Dickenson University, with a BS in business management.

Dan Lehman, Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Corporate Development
Dan brings over 15 years of experience in finance, mergers and acquisitions, and private equity in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. Prior to joining SmartDrive, he was Director of Mergers & Acquisitions at Viaspace, Inc., a $150M public technology company. Previously, Dan was a key member of the Strategy and Corporate Development team at Case Corporation, a $6B manufacturer of heavy equipment, and was responsible for all acquisitions, recapitalizations, divestitures, and joint ventures for the company’s worldwide operations. Dan earned a BS in Information Systems from Kettering University (formerly General Motors Institute) and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

James Plante, Chief Technology Officer and Founder
Jim founded SmartDrive in late 2004 and brings over 20 years experience in the Automotive Electronics Industry. He has held several executive roles as CEO and founder of E-band Communications, Maxima Corporation, and Belstar systems. As an avid entrepreneur, Jim raised over $100M in venture capital and grants to propel new technologies into the marketplace. In 1997, he led the acquisition and turnaround of Bel-Tronics, a 225 employee automotive electronics manufacturer and grew the company to annual sales of $20M. Jim has founded four venture capital backed technology companies and launched more than 12 new product lines in the automotive, wireless and service industries. He received a BSEE from Southern Illinois University.

Ramesh Kasavaraju, Vice President of Advanced Products
Ramesh brings 18 years of experience working for various companies that ranged from startups to leaders in their markets. Ramesh has been involved in the SmartDrive product development since the Company’s inception. Prior to SmartDrive, he managed software development for Telematics, CDMA handset, and on-board GPS navigation system projects at DENSO. At San Diego’s CDMA Division of Nokia Mobile Phones, Ramesh worked in senior roles managing firmware and PC software development. He led a team of developers that supported “after market service tools” that were deployed worldwide and led production testing, calibration and R&D software tool development using Microsoft Technologies. Ramesh graduated with a BS in Electronics and Communication in 1988 from the University of Houston, and received both an MS in Electrical Engineering in 1994 and an MBA from SDSU in 2003.

Kenneth Colby, SVP of Global Operations
Ken has over 23 years of experience in the computer services and software industry. He has served in a variety of functional executive roles, including general management, operations, professional services, and software application development. Prior to joining SmartDrive he was President and General Manager for @Road, a division of Trimble Navigation Ltd. Prior to this role he served as Sr. Vice President, Customer Operations for @Road, Inc. In that role Mr. Colby was responsible for the manufacturing, provisioning, implementation, and ongoing support of @Road’s SAAS technology solutions. Prior to @Road he was the Sr. Vice President, Operations for Vidus Limited in the UK where he oversaw the company’s software development, professional services, customer support, and IT organizations. Ken served for twelve years in the U.S. Navy before joining the software industry. He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, MD.

John Garner, Vice President North American Sales
John brings 15 years experience in sales and marketing of high-tech products in venture capital backed start-ups. For the last 7 years, John was Vice President of Client Development for Tellme Networks. John spearheaded Tellme’s transportation practice which included industry leading clients such as UPS, Federal Express, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and the Ford Motor Company. John helped grow Tellme from zero to over $100M in annual revenue prior to the company being sold to Microsoft. Before Tellme, John was with Excite@Home for 4 years ending as the General Manager of Excite@Home Australia responsible for sales, marketing and business development. John is a graduate of the University of California Berkley and holds an MBA from the Anderson Graduate School of Management UCLA.

Scott Raske, Vice President and Managing Director, EMEA
Scott is an international business development veteran who has lived and worked in Europe and Asia Pacific for nearly a decade. Most recently he was Strategic Account Director at TechnoCom Wireless. Previously, Scott was Director of Business Development at Schlumberger where he led business development efforts into wireless carriers and large systems integrators. Scott graduated from Colorado State University with a BA in Political Science and holds a MBA in International Business from the Garvin School of International Management-Thunderbird. He speaks fluent German and has studied Hungarian, Italian and Russian.
